Message from the Hon. Bill Fraser

MINISTER TOURISM HERITAGE CULTURE

As Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, it is my pleasure to
welcome everyone to the City of Miramichi. Welcome as well to
the many talented musicians who will be participating in the
59th annual Miramichi Folksong Festival.

We are very proud to be the home of Canadaâ€™s longest standing
folksong festival. From story songs passed on by
lumberjacks of old, to modern day troubadours singing their own compositions, this festival
has a unique yet traditional flavor.

I trust that everyone enjoys their visit to our beautiful city and province and that you
experience our wonderful Maritime hospitality. Miramichi, with its cultural vibrancy and rich
natural resources, is an incredible tourism destination and a substantial contributor to the
economy of our province.

Each and every year, this festival continues to serve as an important tourism attraction,
bringing to life the stories of our past and our dreams for the future. I would like to thank
all those involved in making the Miramichi Folksong Festival an overwhelming success year
after year.

Events such as this could not happen without the support of the community and the countless
